Neymar's party on Sunday night had been on the agenda for a few days. The Brazilian star celebrated turning 28 -- he won't actually turn 28 until Wednesday -- at a bash in Paris this weekend at Yoyo, a hotspot in the French capital.
After helping Paris Saint-Germain beat Montpellier 5-0 on Saturday, and 48 hours before a game against Nantes, Neymar invited friends, family and teammates to a party that kicked off at 11pm and carried on until the early hours. PSG coach Thomas Tuchel had admitted it was a "distraction."
The dress code for the party was all white and both Neymar and his guests fulfilled the requirement. People began to arrive from around 9pm, although none of the club's coaching staff were spotted turning up -- Tuchel and his assistants were invited. Cavani, Mbappé, Ander Herrera, Di María, Paredes, Icardi and other teammates as well as Neymar Sr and his agent Pini Zahavi all attended.
Memphis Depay, the Lyon striker, was also seen arriving. The star of the night, Neymar, arrived at 10pm in a white suit and sporting a hat of the same colour, covering the surprising pink hairdo he'd unveiled against Montpellier.
During that game on Saturday, the Brazilian experienced an ugly episode. "Now it's prohibited to play football," he said ironically in the tunnel. Neymar had now taken well being ticked off by the referee for doing a lambretta (flicking the ball over an opponent's head) in the match. The official didn't seem to appreciate the player's attitude.
Neymar kicked off and ended up getting booked. After the game, he spoke to the referee and you could hear his complaints: "Now it's prohibited to play football. I play football and I get a yellow?" The official didn't seem to understand Neymar and urged him to speak in French, to which the PSG man responded: "Speak French... my ass." According to reports in France, he could be facing a potential ban,
