Villarreal were held to 2-2 draw by Granada down on Wednesday at the Madrigal. Villarreal were looking to continue their run after winning their previous two matches in the competition. The most recent was against the Celta away (4-0), the other to Levante at home (2-1). Granada, on the other hand, had lost their previous match against Barcelona. As it stands, Villarreal are currently 4th with 33 points from 19 matches, while Granada sit in 7th, with 28 points from 19.

Granada started strong and were rewarded, following a goal from Roberto Soldado, 21 minutes in. However, their lead didn't last for long, as an equalizer from a Ruben Pena in the 29th minute brought Villarreal level to see out the first half 1-1.

Villarreal took the lead in the second half, beginning with a goal from Moi Gomez, 65 minutes in. However, their lead was short lived, with an equalizer from a Robert Kenedy, 75 minutes in brought Granada level. The game ended a 2-2 draw.

For Villarreal, Carlos Bacca, Yeremi Pino, Paco Alcacer and Francis Coquelin came on for Luis Suarez, Roberto Soldado, Angel Montoro, Luis Milla and Darwin Machis, while Granada brought on Robert Kenedy, Jorge Molina, Yan Eteki, Antonio Puertas and Jesus Vallejo to replace Luis Suarez, Roberto Soldado, Angel Montoro, Luis Milla and Darwin Machis.

The referee booked Manu Trigueros and Francis Coquelin from Villarreal. Granada had the worst of it though, with Luis Milla, Yangel Herrera and Darwin Machis seeing yellow, and Yan Eteki then sent off with a red.

Next up, Villarreal are away to Huesca, whilst Granada will travel to face Osasuna.
