Alavés suffered a home defeat against Villarreal at Estadio de Mendizorroza on Saturday. Alavés wanted to continue adding points after winning away by a 0-1 victory against Levante while Villarreal lost by a result of 1-2 in the previous match against Espanyol. At the moment, Alavés and Villarreal occupy position 14th (23 points) and 7th (31 points) respectively after playing a total of 21 matches.

Good start of the game for Villarreal, thanks to a goal from Carlos Bacca 10 minutes in the game, finalising the first half with a 0-1.

Alavés took the lead in the second half, with a goal from Joselu in the 80th minute. Villarreal took the lead thanks to a goal from Fer Nino in the 89th minute just before the end of the second half to establish the 1-2, finalising the game with a 1-2.
