Valencia and Atlético Madrid draw 2-2 on Friday at Mestalla. Valencia wanted to improve their position in the tournament after losing 3-0 against Getafe while Atlético Madrid won 1-0 the last league match against Granada. As of today, Valencia and Atlético Madrid occupy position 6th (38 points) and 4th (40 points) respectively after playing a total of 24 matches.

Good start of the game for Atlético Madrid, with a goal from Marcos Llorente in the 15th minute. Valencia found an equaliser thanks to a goal from Gabriel Paulista in the 40th minute to establish the 1-1. However, Atlético Madrid just before the end of the 45 minutes got the go-ahead goal thanks to a goal from Thomas Partey in the 43rd minute, thereby seeing the first half to a 1-2.

Valencia took the lead in the second half, thanks to a goal from Geoffrey Kondogbia in the 59th minute, which saw the second half to a 2-2.

As for substitutions, both coaches used full substitutions. For Valencia, Kevin Gameiro, Denis Cheryshev and Mouctar Diakhaby came on for Goncalo Guedes, Carlos Soler and Gabriel Paulista, while Atlético brought on Sime Vrsaljko, Alvaro Morata and Yannick Carrasco to replace Renan Lodi, Santiago Arias and Koke.

The referee booked Gabriel Paulista, Eliaquim Mangala and Maxi Gomez from Valencia, while for Atlético Madrid Renan Lodi and Sime Vrsaljko saw a yellow card as well.

Valencia will play against Real Sociedad at away stadium, while Atlético Madrid will face Villarreal at home stadium.
