Home fans celebrate as Jagoba Arrasate’s men secure win against Valencia on Wednesday

Osasuna strolled past Valencia with a 3-1 win on Wednesday at the Estadio El Sadar. Osasuna were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two games against Elche at home and Villarreal away, by 2-0 and 2-1 respectively. Valencia, on the other hand, were unable to beat Real Betis in a 2-2 draw. As it stands, Osasuna are in 8th place on the table and has 40 points while Valencia sit in 14th with 35 points after 31 matches.

It was an impressive opening from Osasuna, with Javier Martinez Calvo finding the net in the 13th minute. However, they were unable to maintain their lead, Kevin Gameiro managed to equalize and take the sides off at the 30 minute mark at 1-1. Osasuna in turn, then responded, on 32 minutes increasing their lead with an effort from Jonathan Calleri, finishing the first half 2-1.

Los Rojillos continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Roberto Torres at the 67 minute mark, leaving the final score at 3-1.

For Osasuna, Ruben Garcia, Jon Moncayola, Darko Brasanac, Ezequiel Avila and Ante Budimir, came on for Adrian Lopez, Oier, Javier Martinez Calvo, Roberto Torres and Jonathan Calleri. Valencia brought on Christian Oliva, Kang In Lee, Patrick Cutrone, Jason and Manu Vallejo, to replace Uros Racic, Yunus Musah, Denis Cheryshev, Guillem Molina and Kevin Gameiro.

There were bookings for Oier from Osasuna, and Goncalo Guedes and Mouctar Diakhaby, for Valencia.

Osasuna will play their next fixture away against R Madrid, while Valencia will face Barcelona at home.
