The Setien Effect: Villarreal fans turn on ex-Barça coach after four games

Supporters chanted for Setien to leave during Sunday's loss to Mallorca

Villarreal are going through a tough moment and it seems they are still trying to overcome the departure of the most successful coach in their history, Unai Emery, who left for Aston Villa last month.

While Emery started with a big win over Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday, Quique Setien's start to life as Villarreal boss has not gone so well.

Villarreal were 2-0 beaten at home by Mallorca on Sunday and have now lost back-to-back league games under Setien, suffered three defeats in a row in all competitions and are yet to win in four matches under the ex-Barcelona coach.

With Villarreal 1-0 down to Mallorca, after having all the possession but not creating anything, the fans began to turn. When they went 2-0 down, after a substitution, the chant 'Quique vete ya' (Quique out) rung around the stadium.

Setien needs time to change the dynamic at the club. Luckily for him, there is just one more game before the league breaks for the World Cup, giving him that time to get things in order before the restart.
