A player at the Spanish club has tested positive for Covid 19

Sevilla have confirmed that a player has contracted coronavirus in the latest round of testing ahead of their Europa League game against Roma next week.

The players were given some time off following the conclusion of La Liga and were tested upon their return. One player, who was asymptomatic, tested positive.

Sevilla confirmed the news in a statement on Wednesday, explaining that they had followed all health protocols following the discovery of the positive case at the club.

Training was temporarily suspended and the facilities were given a deep clean, while the affected person is in good health and is isolating in their home.

Since learning of the result, all members of the first team have been tested again and returned negative results. Further tests have been carried out with the result expected on Thursday.

Sevilla then plan to return to individual training on Monday, as long as all the results come back negative.
