Out of nowhere, Real Sociedad have decided they want to restart training next Tuesday. This has been revealed by COPE radio, who have listened to a conversation that head coach Imanol had with his squad recently. If this is confirmed to be true, they would be the first Spanish side to return to work since the league was shutdown due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
La Real were actually one of the sides involved in the last LaLiga match. Behind closed doors, they faced Eibar at Ipurua on the 10th March. They are currently fourth in LaLiga and are already in the Copa del Rey final.
According to COPE, Imanol spoke to the squad on Friday and told them it was time to return to training. They would, of course, follow protocols put in place by the Health Department.
The lockdown restrictions will be loosened on Monday but it remains to be seen whether the authorities would allow football teams, or a selection of players, to begin training again.
