Imanol Alguacil's squad gets a valuable victory to Elche at the Reale Arena

Elche fell to an away defeat at the hands of Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena on Sunday. Real were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning last match whilst Elche were beaten 4-1 in the previous match against Villarreal. Following today's result, Real are currently 2nd with 16 points from 7 matches, while Elche sit in 15th, with 6 points from 7.

After an un-eventful first half, Real piled on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Mikel Oyarzabal in the 81st minute. When the final wisthle blew, the result was 1-0 to Real.

For Real, Portu, Cristo Romero, German Valera, Ander Guevara and Aritz Elustondo, came on for Adnan Januzaj, Aihen Munoz, Mikel Oyarzabal, Benat Turrientes and Mikel Merino. Elche replaced Raúl Guti, Lucas Perez, Dario Benedetto, Pablo Piatti and Fidel for Gerard Gumbau, Guido Carrillo, Pere Milla, Tete Morente and Javier Pastore.

There were bookings for Portu from Real. For Elche, Kiko Casilla, Johan Mojica and Omar Mascarell saw yellow.

Real will next play Getafe away, with Elche facing Celta Vigo at home.
