Real Madrid drop points against Valencia: 1-1 at Mestalla
Valencia and Real Madrid draw 1-1 on Sunday at Mestalla. The two teams arrived at this match after previous wins. Valencia went into the match knowing victory after winning their previous two matches against Levante away and Villarreal at home stadium, by 2-4 and 2-1 respectively while Real Madrid won in their last two matches of the competition against Espanyol at home stadium, and Alavés away, by 2-0 and 1-2 respectively. As of today, Valencia is 8th in the LaLiga table with 27 points from 17 matches, while Real Madrid sits 2nd with 35 points after 17 matches.
The first half ended with little further action at either end and goalless.
Valencia took the lead in the second half, with a goal from Carlos Soler in the 78th minute. However, Real Madrid just before the end of the second half found an equaliser thanks to a goal from Karim Benzema in the 90th minute, which saw the second half to a 1-1.
As for substitutions, both coaches used full substitutions. For Valencia Manu Vallejo, Geoffrey Kondogbia and Mouctar Diakhaby came on for Jaume Costa, Francis Coquelin and Ferran Torres, while Madrid brought on Gareth Bale, Vinicius Junior and Luka Jovic to replace Isco, Rodrygo and Luka Modric.
The referee booked Carlos Soler from Valencia, while for Real Madrid Dani Carvajal and Luka Jovic saw a yellow card as well.
Valencia will be playing against Real Valladolid at away stadium, while Real Madrid will face Athletic at home stadium.
