Real Madrid ended a run of three games without a win in La Liga by beating Sevilla 1-0 at the Sanchez Pizjuan on Saturday.

Bono's second-half own goal was enough to earn Madrid their first three points in the league since they beat Huesca in October.

Since that 4-1 win over Huesca, they have been beaten 4-1 by Valencia, held to a 1-1 draw by Villarreal and lost 2-1 at home to Alaves.

Saturday's game was hugely important, then, and even more so when considering that Madrid host rivals Atletico Madrid in the league next weekend.

Madrid's 0-1 win over Sevilla was hard-fought at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.

Sevilla were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two matches against Huesca away and Celta at home, 0-1 and 4-2 respectively.

Real Madrid were beaten 1-2 in the previous match against Alavés. After Saturday's result, Sevilla and Real Madrid currently occupy 5th and 3rd spots in the table, with 16 and 20 points respectively after 12 matches.

Sevilla will next travel to Getafe, while Real Madrid will face Atlético at home.
