Real Betis earned hard-fought win over Madrid 2-1 at Benito Villamarin

Madrid on away loss to Betis at Benito Villamarin on Sunday. Real Betis wanted to improve their position in the tournament after losing against Valencia 2-1 while Real Madrid won 2-0 the last league match against Barcelona. Following today's result, Real Betis is 12th in the LaLiga table with 33 points from 27 matches, while Real Madrid sits 2nd with 56 points after 27 matches.

The first half started in favour of Real Betis, with a goal from Sidnei in the 40th minute. Real Madrid found an equaliser thanks to a penalty goal from Karim Benzema in the 45th minute just before the end of the 45 minutes to establish the 1-1, and the first half ended 1-1.

Real Betis boosted the game in the second half, thanks to a goal from Cristian Tello in the 82nd minute, finalising the game with a 2-1.

At the end of the match, both teams made 3 substitutions each. For Real Betis Cristian Tello, Guido Rodriguez and Alfonso Pedraza came on for Joaquin, Edgar Gonzalez and Alex Moreno, while Madrid brought on Ferland Mendy, Mariano Diaz and Federico Valverde to replace Marcelo, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.

The referee booked Andres Guardado from Betis, while for Real Madrid Marcelo saw a yellow card as well.
