Valencia were beaten by visiting RMA on Sunday, leaving them with 10 points after 4 games

Valencia on Sunday lost to R Madrid on a home defeat at the Mestalla. Both Valencia and RMA arrived on the back of wins. Valencia were looking to continue their run after winning their previous two games in the league. The most recent was against the Osasuna away (4-1), the other to Alaves at home (3-0) while RMA were coming from consecutive wins against Celta Vigo and Real Betis. As the table looks today, both teams are on 10 points and occupy 3rd and 2nd places respectively after 5 matches.

After an un-eventful first half, Valencia fought back the second half, with a goal from Hugo Duro in the 66th minute. However, the good fortune didn't last for long. An equalizer from Vinicius Junior at the 86 minute mark brought RMA level. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Karim Benzema just before the final whistle to make it 2-1.

For Valencia, Yunus Musah, Lato Toni, Helder Costa, Marcos De Sousa and Uros Racic, came on for Carlos Soler, Thierry Correia, Goncalo Guedes, Hugo Duro and Maxi Gomez. RMA brought on Lucas Vazquez, Eduardo Camavinga, Rodrygo, Luka Jovic and Isco, to replace Dani Carvajal, Luka Modric, Casemiro, Eden Hazard and Federico Valverde.

There were bookings for Gabriel Paulista from Valencia, and Casemiro, Nacho, Rodrygo, Vinicius Junior and Eduardo Camavinga, for RMA.

Valencia will next play Seville away, with RMA facing Mallorca at home.
