On Wednesday, Celta suffer an away defeat to Betis at Benito Villamarin. Real Betis were looking to pick up points, following a 2-0 victory against Huesca. Celta, on the other hand, lost 4-0 in the last match they played against Villarreal. Following today's result, Real Betis and Celta currently occupy 8th and 11th spots in the league, with 26 points and 23 points respectively after 19 matches.

It was an impressive opening from Celta, beginning with Santi Mina opening the scoring in the 15th minute. However, they didn't maintain the lead for long though, an equalizer from a goal from Sergio Canales in the 25th minute brought Real Betis level. Later, Real Betis took the lead with a goal form another goal from Sergio Canales, scoring his second goal in the 44th minute just before half-time, to take a 2-1 lead into half time. With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the game ended 2-1.

For Betis, Rodri, Andres Guardado, Borja Iglesias and Alex Moreno came on for Jeison Murillo, Emre Mor and Nolito, while Celta brought on Joseph Aidoo, Miguel Baeza and Fran Beltran to replace Jeison Murillo, Emre Mor and Nolito.

There were bookings for Victor Ruiz and Joel Robles from Betis and Aaron Martin, Denis Suarez and Renato Tapia for Celta.

Real Betis will play their next game away against Real Sociedad, while Celta will face Eibar at home.
