Osasuna enjoyed a mesmerizing home victory against Villarreal at Estadio El Sadar on Saturday. Osasuna faced the encounter with a desire to add more points to their locker after a 1-1 draw against Levante while Villarreal came from winning 5-1 against Real Betis in the last match played. Following today's result, Osasuna and Villarreal are tied on 11 points occupying position 11 and 9 respectively after 8 matches.
Villarreal opening the goal line, thanks to a good early goal from Pau Torres in the 5th minute. However, Osasuna just before the end of the 45 minutes gave an equalizer thanks to a goal from Facundo Roncaglia in the 46th minute, which saw the first half to a 1-1.
Osasuna boosted the game in the second half, with a goal from Ezequiel Ávila in the 79th minute, which saw the second half to a 2-1.
As for substitutions, both coaches used full substitutions. For Osasuna, Robert Ibáñez, Jon Moncayola and Darko Brasanac came on for Adrián López, Oier and Rubén García, while Villarreal brought on Javier Ontiveros, Carlos Bacca and Manu Trigueros to replace Karl Toko-Ekambi, Andre Zambo Anguissa and Vicente Iborra.
The referee booked Nacho Vidal and Oier from Osasuna, while for Villarreal Raúl Albiol and Carlos Bacca saw a yellow card as well.
Villarreal and Osasuna will play at away stadium against Espanyol and Granada respectively.
