Nike handed Ronaldo ultimatum after he launched footwear range

Cristiano Ronaldo has been forced to withdraw his range of CR7 footwear after Nike threatened to break off their contract with him.

The Real Madrid and Portugal star pockets a reported €9million a year from the American company, so took their threat seriously.

Ronaldo launched the range of footwear at Milan Shoe Fair last week, with boots, loafers and dress shoes all included in the collection.

Prices for the items ranged from €100 to €550

However, Nike were not happy and offered the 30-year-old an ultimatum: Drop the footwear range or lose your contract with Nike.

Madrid's No.7 has a big connection with the fashion world, having previously launched his own line of underwear and shirts.

And while Nike let that slide, they viewed his move into the footwear market as direct competition and put their foot down.
