Atlético snatched all three points from Valencia in a 3-1 victory on Sunday, at the Wanda Metropolitano. Atlético Madrid were looking to continue their run after winning their previous two games against Eibar away and Sevilla at home, by 2-1 and 2-0 respectively. Valencia, on the other hand, were unable to beat Osasuna in a 1-1 draw. At the moment, Atlético Madrid and Valencia currently occupy 1st and 14th spots in the table, with 47 points and 20 points respectively after 20 matches.

It was an impressive opening from Valencia, beginning with a goal from Uros Racic in minute 11. However, they didn't maintain the lead for long though, an equalizer from a Joao Felix in the 23rd minute brought Atlético Madrid level, to take a 1-1 lead into half time.

Atlético Madrid started the second half on an intensified spirit, thanks to a goal from Luis Suarez in the 54th minute. Later, Atlético Madrid took the lead with a goal form a goal from Angel Correa in the 72nd minute. The game ended with a 3-1 victory for Atlético Madrid.

For Atlético Madrid Renan Lodi, Angel Correa, Geoffrey Kondogbia and Lucas Torreira came on for Sime Vrsaljko, Joao Felix, Marcos Llorente and Thomas Lemar, while Valencia brought on Hugo Guillamon, Goncalo Guedes, Kevin Gameiro, Koba Koindredi and Jason to replace Mouctar Diakhaby, Denis Cheryshev, Manu Vallejo, Uros Racic and Yunus Musah.

The referee booked Sime Vrsaljko and Stefan Savic for Atlético Madrid.

Atlético Madrid will next travel to Cádiz, while Valencia will face Elche at home.
