La Liga confirm all games to be without supporters for "at least" two weeks

Madrid-Eibar, Mallorca-Barça and the Seville derby among the games affected first

The High Council of Sports in Spain 8CSD) has communicated to the sporting federations in the country that all competitions and events, professional and non-professional, should be played behind closed doors for the nect two weeks.

Spain's top flight, LaLiga, has accepted the decision after analysing the health reports and the next two game weeks will be played without supporters. 

"According to information from the High Council of Sports (CSD), LaLiga Santander and LaLiga SmartBank matches will be played behind closed doors, starting today (March 10) and for at least the next two weeks," the league said in a statement. 

"LaLiga will continue to be in permanent contact with the Ministry of Health and the CSD to follow its recommendations and / or decisions, prioritizing the health of fans, players, club employees, journalists, etc., due to the COVID-19 health crisis.

"For weeks, LaLiga has been working on alternative plans in coordination with UEFA in case health authorities decide to suspend any match, creating a plan to play these matches."


The first game affected is Tuesday's rearranged game between Eibar and Real Sociedad. Then, on Friday, Real Madrid-Eibar will be played in an empty Santiago Bernabeu. The Seville derby will also be played without supporters. 

As for Barça, their trip to Mallorca this weekend (Sat, March 14) will be played without fans, as will their home game against Leganes at Camp Nou on March 22. 

Madrid, meanwhile, will have two home games affected. After Eibar, the host Valencia in the Spanish capital on March 21.
