Real Madrid and Real Sociedad effectively cancel each other out in a 1-1 draw

On Monday, Real Madrid and Real Sociedad were held to a 1-1 draw at the Alfredo di Stéfano. Both Real Madrid and Real Sociedad arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Real Madrid were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two games in the competition. The most recent was against the Real Valladolid away (1-0), the other to Valencia at home (2-0) whilst Real Sociedad were coming from consecutive wins against Alaves and Getafe. As the table looks today, Real Madrid are in 3rd place on the table and has 53 points while Real Sociedad sit in 5th with 42 points after 25 matches.

After a goalless first half, Real Sociedad started the second half on an intensified spirit, following Portu opening the scoring, 55 minutes in. However, they didn't maintain the lead for long though, an equalizer from a Vinicius Junior just before the final whistle brought Real Madrid level, and the game ended 1-1.

For Real Madrid Hugo Duro, Rodrygo, Vinicius Junior and Federico Valverde came on for Mariano Diaz, Marco Asensio, Isco and Luka Modric, while Real brought on Ander Barrenetxea, Carlos Fernandez, Modibo Sagnan and Aihen Munoz to replace Portu, Alexander Isak, Andoni Gorosabel and David Silva.

The referee booked Andoni Gorosabel for Real Sociedad.

Real Madrid will play their next fixture away against Atletico Madrid, while Real Sociedad will face Levante at home.
