Ronald Koeman's squad earned a valuable victory to Getafe at the Nou Camp

Barcelona beat Getafe with a thumping 5-2 victory on Thursday at the Nou Camp. Barca were hoping to get something from this game, following a previous defeat to R Madrid. Getafe, on the other hand, were unable to beat R Madrid in a 0-0 draw. As it stands, Barca are currently 3rd with 68 points from 31 matches, while Getafe sit in 15th, with 31 points from 31.

It was an impressive opening from Barca, with Lionel Messi opening the rout, 8 minutes in. However, their lead was short-lived, as an equalizer from Clement Lenglet, 12 minutes in, brought Deep Blues level. However, each side looked hungry to win and Los Blaugranas then found the back of the net, on 28 minutes thanks to Sofiane Chakla, taking the score to 2-1. However they weren't finished yet and Lionel Messi made it 3-1 in the 33rd minute. The score at half time was 3-1.

Getafe took the initiative in the second half, with Enes Ünal finding the net, on 69 minutes. However, Barca increased their advantage 4-2 thanks to a goal from Ronald Araujo in the 87th minute. However they weren't finished yet and Antoine Griezmann made it 5-2 just before the final whistle with a final score of 5-2.

For Barca, Moriba Ilaix, Ronald Araujo, Trincao and Samuel Umtiti, came on for Clement Lenglet, Gerard Pique, Sergi Roberto and Oscar Mingueza. Getafe brought on Mauro Arambarri, Koffi, Sabit Abdulai, Enes Ünal and Josete Miranda, to replace Nemanja Maksimovic, Marc Cucurella, Carles Alena, Angel Rodriguez and Chema.

The referee booked Clement Lenglet and Ronald Araujo for Barca.

Getafe and Barca will next play away to Villarreal and Villarreal respectively.
