Celta strolled past Athletic Bilbao with a 0-2 win on Friday at San Mames. Athletic Bilbao were looking for a victory following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Getafe in their previous game. Celta, on the other hand, were looking to extend their winning run after a 3-1 victory against Granada. After today's result, both teams are on 13 points and occupy 9th and 14th places respectively after 12 matches.

After an uneventful first half, Celta continued to pile on the pressure the second half and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Hugo Mallo in the 61st minute. Later, Celta took the lead with a goal form a goal from Iago Aspas in the 78th minute, sealing a resounding 0-2 victory for the away side.

For Athletic Bilbao Mikel Balenziaga, Raul Garcia, Unai Lopez, Oihan Sancet and Jon Morcillo came on for Yuri Berchiche, Asier Villalibre, Unai Vencedor, Inaki Williams and Iker Muniain, while Celta brought on Joseph Aidoo, Fran Beltran and Miguel Baeza to replace Nolito, Iago Aspas and Brais Mendez.

There were bookings for Unai Nunez and Mikel Vesga from Athletic and Jeison Murillo for Celta.

Athletic Bilbao will next travel to Valencia, while Celta will face Cádiz at home.
