Granada succumbed to an away defeat to Atlético at Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday. Atlético Madrid wanted to improve their position in the tournament after losing against Real Madrid 1-0 while Granada won 2-1 the last league match against Espanyol. As of today, Atlético Madrid and Granada occupy position 4th (39 points) and 10th (30 points) respectively after playing a total of 23 matches.
The game started favourably for Atlético Madrid, with a goal from Angel Correa in the 6th minute, which saw the first half to a 1-0.
Atlético Madrid and Granada were struggling to produce anything in the second 45 minutes and the teams went to the dressing room locked in a 1-0.
As for substitutions, both coaches used full substitutions. For Atlético Madrid Yannick Carrasco, Thomas Lemar and Toni Moya came on for Renan Lodi, Koke and Vitolo, while Granada substituted Gil Dias, Antonio Puertas and Carlos Fernandez with Yangel Herrera, Alvaro Vadillo and Jose Antonio Martinez.
The referee booked Koke, Thomas Partey, Sime Vrsaljko and Vitolo from Atlético, while for Granada Yangel Herrera, Roberto Soldado, Dimitri Foulquier, Domingos Duarte, Victor Diaz and Ismail Koybasi saw a yellow card as well.
Atlético Madrid will be playing against Valencia at away stadium, while Granada will face Real Valladolid at home stadium.
