Alaves make it 10 games running with no win for Athletic

Athletic suffered an away defeat to Alavés at Estadio de Mendizorroza on Sunday. Alavés and Athletic Bilbao arrived at this challenge after suffering a defeat in their previous league game. Alavés faced the match with a desire to make up their league after losing against Mallorca 1-0 while Athletic Bilbao lost by a result of 0-1 in the previous match against Osasuna. As of today, Alavés and Athletic Bilbao occupy position 14th (30 points) and 11th (31 points) respectively after playing a total of 25 matches.

 Good start of the game for Athletic Bilbao, with a goal from Raul Garcia in the 17th minute. Alavés gave an equalizer thanks to a goal from Lucas Perez in the 28th minute to establish the 1-1, thereby seeing the first half to a 1-1.

 Alavés took the lead in the second half, thanks to a goal from Rodrigo Ely just before the end of the second half, which saw the second half to a 2-1.

 At the end of the match, both teams made 3 substitutions each. For Alavés Edgar Mendez, Oliver Burke and Pere Pons came on for Martin Aguirregabiria, Joselu and Victor Camarasa, while Athletic brought on Inigo Lekue, Aritz Aduriz and Gaizka Larrazabal to replace Ander Capa, Raul Garcia and Inaki Williams.

 The referee booked Ximo Navarro, Martin Aguirregabiria, Rodrigo Ely and Pere Pons from Alavés, while for Athletic Bilbao Ander Capa, Unai Nunez, Dani Garcia and Inigo Martinez saw a yellow card as well.

 Alavés with their next fixture against Leganés at away stadium, while Athletic Bilbao will face Villarreal at home stadium.
