The defender was substituted 19 minutes into the game

FC Barcelona defender Óscar Mingueza was forced to withdraw with an injury after 19 minutes of Spain's opening match of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics against Egypt, having picked up a muscular problem in the back of his leg. He was replaced by Real Madrid defender Jesús Vallejo.

The Catalan defender asked to be taken off after noting a problem in the biceps femoris muscle of his left leg. This injury represented the first set back for Spain coach Luis de la Fuente, who had counted on Mingueza as a key part of his defence. The extent of his injury remains unknown, and will become clear in the coming days.
