The PSG forward must decide his future with his contract ticking down to nowt

After learning of a multi-million dollar proposal from Saudi Arabia, Leo Messi's options for next season are now split between four places. The future of the world champion is far from decided and Leo will have to choose from the range of possibilities open to him.

Paris Saint-Germain

There has been a before and after, since the World Cup. Before the event that crowned Leo Messi world champion, there was an agreement in principle for the renewal of the Argentine star with his current club, but after returning from Qatar, the negotiations were delayed because of the elimination in the Champions League of the Parisian team, which fell hard at the hands of Bayern Munich in the round of 16.

PSG have not guaranteed Leo Messi a winning sporting project and negotiations have cooled down.

Major League Soccer

The option of the American league has always been there. Miami has long been keen to bring the greatest footballer of all time to its franchise, but there may be a different route.

As SPORT reported, there is also the option of Major League Soccer clubs joining forces, putting money out of their own pockets to bring Leo Messi to La Liga with all that would entail in terms of impact and recovering the investment made with the large part of the sale of television rights.

Saudi Arabia

The most recent of the options available to Leo Messi and also the most powerful financially, as the 400 million euros that Al-Hilal want to put on the table would make him the highest paid footballer in the world. But, on the other hand, it would also be the one that least appeals to the No 10 at the moment, although it is a proposal that he will study.

In principle, the Argentinian has no intention of playing in Arab football. He still sees himself in the football elite, and his numbers in the recent World Cup prove it. If he accepts, he would be playing in the same competition with Cristiano Ronaldo, in what would be the re-sparking of a duel that has always been exciting.

FC Barcelona

In recent days, Leo Messi has become more and more linked with the club that saw him arrive as a boy and from which he had to leave two summers ago -- a thorn that is still sticking in his side.

But the truth is that so far there have been no negotiations, only public statements. Joan Laporta, Rafa Yuste, Mateu Alemany and Xavi Hernandez have not hidden the fact that they would like to see Leo back in the Blaugrana shirt, but we must also be aware of the economic difficulties of a deal. Sponsors are being sought to make the operation viable.
