The Serie A club want the striker to ask for a move away from the San Siro

Barcelona and Inter Milan continue to negotiate for Lautaro Martinez. The Italian club are going to fight hard to get the best deal despite the possible effects of coronavirus on the transfer market.

The owners of the club, the Chinese company Suning, led by Steven Zhang, have put a condition on the table: Lautaro must ask to leave if he wants to go. If he doesn't, the club will only sell if his release clause is met, per 'La Gazzetta dello Sport'.

Suning bought Inter with the intention of competing for Serie A. They appointed Antonio Conte to lead them to the title and this season are in the race with Juventus and Lazio.

Their plan is to keep on investing and selling Lautaro does not feature in their thinking. They have told that to the striker's people and asked them to clear up their plans for the summer so they can start to plan.

Inter are relaxed because Lautaro has identified with the club. However, the Argentine has not accepted a contract renewal offer and is keen to join Lionel Mesi at Barcelona.

Zhang will meet with the forward as soon as the coronavirus crisis allows. The meeting will be key and it could see the striker ask for a move to Barça, which would open the door for the Catalans.

Inter have already tentatively looked for a replacement for Lautaro. In Italy, they don't rule out a possible exchange for Antoine Griezmann, while Arsenal's Aubameyang is also a target.

Lautaro's release clause is 111 million euros during the first two weeks of July but Barça remain hopeful of negotiating a better deal and/or swapping players.
