"Griezmann is one of the best and he will adapt to Barcelona"

Messi says that the dressing room are helping the Frenchman adapt to Camp Nou

One of the subjects raised in Lionel Messi's interview with RAC1 on Wednesday was Antoine Griezmann's arrival at Barcelona.

The Barça captain recognised that the Frenchman is going through an adaption process at Camp Nou but says he has the complete backing of his teammates.

"We've said it many times," Messi said. "It's not easy to adapt to the idea of football that Barça have. Coming from outside is difficult if you don't know the philosophy of the club inside out.

"Griezmann's coming from a playing a different way to how we play here but we have no doubt he will adapt because he has quality and he is intelligent."

Messi added: "Obviously it's a lie that we didn't want him. Last year I said he was one of the best and the best are always welcome. I also wanted Neymar to come for that reason, because he's different, one of the best, and to have him here would have been important for our objectives.

"But with Neymar, you had to look beyond purely sporting issues. Many socios didn't want him back because of everything that had happened."
