Moving the international tournament back a year would allow LaLiga to be restarted and completed this summer

The postponement of football due to the Coronavirus has had a domino effect across the globe. This morning, UEFA met to discuss two important topics: 1) Whether domestic competitions would be completely cancelled or restarted at a later date? and 2) How would any perspective changes impact the European Championships, originally scheduled for the 12th June to the 12th July.

In a videoconference meeting between the 55 UEFA Federations, a decision has been made on both counts. Firstly, the Euros will be moved back one year and take place in 2021.

In terms of the domestic competitions, the aim is for all of them will be completed this season. With the Euros out of the way, there's now the possibility to extend LaLiga and the Premier League, amongst others, until the summer.
