The home side were the better team in the first half and deservedly took the lead through Wissam Ben Yedder's close range finish.

However, Atletico, who offered little in the opening period, struck back just before the break when Antoine Griezmann fired home a free kick from 20 yards.

Atletico improved after the break and both sides had chances to win it but both goalkeepers were on top form.

Vaclik made several telling contributions for Sevilla, including a brilliant stop when one-on-one with Griezmann, to keep Atletico out.

At the other end, Jan Oblak demonstrated why he's one of the world's best goalkeepers with a couple of saves, the pick of the bunch from Joris Gnangon.

The last save of the game came from Vaclik, who made a fine stop from Thomas Partey's long-range stinger, tipping it over for a corner.

Atletico remain second with 35 points, while Sevilla sit third with 33 points. If Barcelona beat Getafe later on Sunday, they could open up a five point lead at the top of the table.
