Salvador Illa may not allow football to return before the summer he says
Spain is one of the worst-hit countries by the coronavirus and football has been indefinitely paused. La Liga wants to organise a return but that is dependent on getting government clearance.
"I cannot say now if professional football will be able to restart before the summer, it would be imprudent on my part," Illa told a news conference.
"There is an order from the Health Ministry which is in place for all types of groups, including professional football. They have to put whatever type of diagnostic tests they have at the disposal of the regional governments."
La Liga chief Javier Tebas wants teams training in May if it is safe to do so, with the league producing protocols for a return.
