"They misuse the corona crisis for their own gain," the former Barça coach said

Former Barcelona coach Louis van Gaal has criticised clubs for taking advantage of coronavirus to ask for leagues to be cancelled, saying that "in sport, the winner is declared on the pitch."

Ajax, the current leaders of the Eredivisie,  have called for the Dutch league to end now, but Van Gaal is irritated by those clubs rushing for a solution.

"There are clubs misusing the coronavirus crisis for their own gain and later make it a public health statement," he told Algemeen Dagblad. "I’m a man who can’t take that."

He added: “There is plenty of time this summer now that the European Championship have been moved. And if UEFA and FIFA are willing to change rules and offer space: well, then get started. ”
