The ex-Barça man will finish his career as a player in Japan

On the day of his 37th birthday, Andres Iniesta has extended his contract with Japanese side Vissel Kobe for another two years.

The former Barcelona player first joined the club three years ago and will continue his career there until he is at least 39 years old.

"There have been tough moments during these three years, but we've also been able to win the club's first two trophies (The Emperor's Cup and the Japanese Super Cup) and play in the Asian Champions League for the first time," Iniesta said.

"I want to thank everyone. From the first day, I have felt at home. Today's a special day, to continue linked to this club for two more years is really exciting."

Iniesta has made 75 appearances for the club, scoring 16 goals, and added that "obviously" his playing days will eventually come to an end in Kobe.
