The three World Cup players have been cut as part of a big shakeup

German coach Joachim Low announced on Tuesday that experience trio Jerome Boateng, Mats Hummels and Thomas Müller are no longer in his plans.

All three play for Bayern Munich and were part of the 2014 World Cup winning team but have now had their international careers seemingly ended by Low.

“This is the year for our new beginning,” the coach said. “It was important for me that I could personally tell the players and the bosses at Bayern about my thoughts and plans.”

"I want to thank [Boateng, Hummels and Müller] for many successful and outstanding years together”

The decision will have come as a surprise to Boateng (30), Hummels (30) and Müller (29), who all would have thought they have at least one more major tournament in them.

Germany's next game is on March 20 against Serbia. Low's decision is the most radical one he has taken since a failure to get out of the group stages at the World Cup last summer.
