Everton hope 'disappointing' André Gomes can rediscover his best form
Up until December, Gomes was Everton's best player. Since then he's struggled to produce his best football.
It all started so well for Andre Gomes at Everton. The Portuguese midfielder, on loan from FC Barcelona, was their star player up until December but has since been stuck in a poor run of form. This coincided with a heavy flow of fixtures around Christmas time. Everton, however, hope that an extended break - 17 days - might help the on loan midfielder get back to his best.
Their head coach, Marco Silva, said this on Gomes: "Andre was feeling that situation. It was a busy December, of course after that we had again some busy periods in January, and then in February we didn’t expect the Man City change so that put us again in this type of situation."
“Of course, you have to understand, Andre last season didn’t play enough time. He had a fantastic impact in our squad and then came the busy period, and it wasn’t just him, but of course he felt it. It’s normal. It’s tough for everyone, but Andre is a worker. And he will work very hard to achieve that level once again.”
