City have made an offer to the Portugal captain

Cristiano Ronaldo's future will be clarified in the coming days. On Wednesday, as reported by 'La Gazzetta dello Sport', Cristiano and his agent Jorge Mendes held a meeting at the player's house to evaluate their options before the end of the transfer window. It is understood that City are keen to sign the Juventus forward, but they won't break the bank to do so.

Cristiano, who earns €31 million euros a year, has been criticised by certain sections of the Juventus fanbase for failing to live up to expectations since arriving from Real Madrid. He was signed to help the club win the Champions League, making last season's defeat at the hands of Porto even more embarrassing. This, coupled with the side's poor performance in Serie A, has somewhat tarnished his relationship with the fans.

According to reports, City are now interested in signing Ronaldo after failing to agree a deal for Tottenham's Harry Kane. While they have made it clear in private that they would like to sign the player, they would not be willing to pay a transfer fee to sign him. In other words, he would need to be released from his contract by Juventus. This is where Jorge Mendes comes into the scene.

According to Sky Sports, Pep Guardiola's side have already offered him a 2-year deal in which he would earn €15 million per season after-tax. Juventus are asking for a transfer fee of between 25 and 30 million, but they could be persuaded by the opportunity to get his wages off their books.
