The Copa America winners beat the European champions in the Grand Final

Lionel Messi and Argentina beat Italy 3-0 to win the Finalissima at Wembley on Wednesday.

Messi did not score but was instrumental throughout as Argentina won the competition that pitted the European champions against the Copa America winners.

Lautaro Martinez opened the scoring after 28 minutes in London and Angel Di Maria made it two with a chip on the stroke of half-time.

Paulo Dybala added the third deep into stoppage time at the end of the game.

All the match was missing was a Messi goal but his teammates still appreciated his efforts, throwing him into the air at full time as they celebrated another trophy.

Lionel Scaloni's side are now unbeaten in 32 games and will head into the World Cup in Qatar later this year as one of the favourites as Messi looks to follow up last year's Copa America triumph.

For Italy, this was the end of an era for many players, such as defender Chiellini, as they face a year which will end with them not taking part in the World Cup having failed to qualify.
