Barcelona's posture in light of Gio Queiroz accusations
The club say they acted correctly and that Queiroz broke health regulations
On Tuesday Gio Queiroz, the Barcelona Femeni player on loan at Levante, published an ‘open letter to the president’ on her social networks, claiming she was the victim of ‘work assault and psychological violence against women’ by Barcelona.
SPORT have learned that the club see things very differently to the player.
She said that she was not allowed to go to Brazil for international duty and had been incorrectly forced to quarantine at home for close contact with a Covid-19 positive case.
She says she took a negative PCR test and travelled. Despite the fact that the medical services informed her that she could not leave the house and, consequently, the country, the club say Queiroz ignored health regulations, committing a public health crime and not complying with the club's internal regulations.
She claims she was punished arbitrarily by the club afterwards. They called her in to discuss the incident and after that only gave her minutes with Barcelona B.
Queiroz denounced that incidents to FIFA and FIFA backed Barcelona. They also met with the club’s compliance officer to find out what happened and saw nothing irregular on behalf of Barcelona towards the player.
