Barça predict the team will be full self-sufficient in the current campaign

FC Barcelona expect the women's football team to make €18 million in the 2023/24 season and to have a positive balance sheet. In the 2022/23 campaign, they came close to balancing the budget, but fell €129,000 short of the target.

According to the website '2Playbook.com,' Barça have included the figures in the budget to be presented by the board of directors chaired by Joan Laporta at the Members' Assembly to be held on 21 October.

The forecasts of the club's economic team in the budget for the women's football section are that it will increase its turnover by 30%, with the commercial side contributing €11m.

In contrast, spending on the sports staff is around €9m, with an increase of 64% in the last financial year.

Positive figures

Last year's sporting successes, with the Champions League and Lige F triumphs, helped to push revenues into the black.

However, in the end, the section recorded a deficit of €129,000 when the plan was for the team to be financially self-sufficient by the 2022/23 season.

Barça hope the team will be in the 2023/24 season and that the section will achieve this objective for the first time, with an expected income of €18m and a profit of €2.3m.

According to 2Playbook.com's analysis of Barça's accounts, although the section's profitability has not yet been achieved, it is possible to speak of a "technical budget balance" and that it amply improves the figures of the other multi-sport sections.

The team doubled its income from sponsorship (€8.7m) which, together with the payments from UEFA for the Champions League title and other income, improved the income forecast by 16.6% to over €13.5m.

In addition, ticketing generated by the Estadi Johan Cruyff and matches played at the Spotify Camp Nou raised competition revenues by €1m to almost €2.9m.

Women's football has an avenue for growth that is still pending, the field of audiovisual rights, which is key to the results accounts of men's football. The European and Liga F champions do not reach €2m in television revenue.

Budgets 2023/24

In '2Playbook.com' they also offer details of the section's budget for the 2023/24 season with a forecast of €11.2m in sponsorship and commercial income (tours, merchandising...). One of the increases comes from the team's recent tour of Mexico and they expect to reach €18m revenue in total.

The revenues from ticketing and matchday are also expected to double to more than €4.5 million. On the other hand, there is no increase in the television part, which will remain at around €1.9m.
