Barcelona 2-1 PSG (3-2): Mertens brace books place in Champions League final

The Blaugrana will meet Chelsea in the final of the European Cup later this month

What a game at the Johan Cruyff. Intensity until the final minute if a game brimming with good football. Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain starred in a clash of the titans fitting for the occasions: a Champions League semifinal. Barça booked their ticket to the final for the second time in their history. There are no more words to describe this team. You just have to applaud them.

Lieke Martens' brace and the team's fight mean Barça will meet Chelsea, who beat Bayern Munich in the other semifinal, in Gothenburg later this month.

PSG came out as expected: intense and looking for a goal after a 1-1 draw in the first leg. Barça took a few minutes to impose their style but they soon got their reward. Leila saw Martens set off on the left and picked her out. The Dutch forward produced a super finish to open the scoring.

The visitors again stepped up, looking for a way back into the tie, but Barça's quality told at the other end. Hansen did well to set up Martens for her second. PSG regrouped, met in the middle and gave each other instructions. It seemed to work. In their next attack, they won a corner and Katoto made it 2-1 on the day, 3-2 on aggregate.

The second half was similar. PSG pushing without much reward thanks to a brilliant Barça defence, led by Maria Leon. When they did attack, Barça looked more dangerous. Alexia could have won a penalty, Hansen was denied and Jenni Hermoso and Marta Torrejon both hit the woodwork.

Oshoala had a great chance to kill the tie late on but it didn't matter that she missed. Barça had done more than enough to make the final. Gothenburg, get ready.
