The Barcelona midfielder has outstanding goal scoring abilities and was key to the treble

Alexia Putellas’s legend grows. After winning the 2021 Ballon d’Or, the UEFA best player award and the Globe Soccer Award for best player in 2021, she has added another trophy - FIFA’s The Best 2021 award. She helped lead Barcelona to the treble.

The midfielder beat team-mate Jennifer Hermoso and Chelsea’s Sam Kerr in the vote.

She is the second player to win The Best and the Ballon d’Or in the same seasons, following USA forward Megan Rapinoe, who did in 2019. She is also the second Barcelona player to win this one, after Like Martens in 2017.

Alexia’s goal numbers are outstanding for a centre-midfielder, as she has one of the most lethal shots in football.

She is the second top goalscorer in the club’s history, with 162. Last season she netted 26 goals across all competitions, including a penalty in the Champions League final and the first ever Femeni goal at Camp Nou.
