Three Barça players off to U20 World Cup despite Spain missing out

Three FC Barcelona players will be at the U-20 World Cup to be held in Argentina from 20 May to 11 June: Román Vega, Derek Cuevas and Niko Takahashi. 

After the Spanish national team missed out on the competition after failing to qualify last year, there are only three players from the Catalan club who will go to the World Cup in the end.

Román Vega, the Barça Atlètic full-back, will go with Argentina, the hosts, who are in group A with Uzbekistan, Guatemala and New Zealand.

Derek Cuevas, from Juvenil A (Barça's U19 team), will go with the Dominican Republic, who are in group D with Italy, Brazil and Nigeria.

And Niko Takahashi, from Juvenil B -- and sometimes with Juvenil A -- will represent Japan, in Group C with Senegal, Israel and Colombia.
