Barcelona renew young midfielder Nico Gonzalez's deal
The son of the legendary Fran, he could one day be the new Sergio Busquets
Nico Gonzalez’s contract renewal has been completed. The Barca B midfielder will stay at the club for three more years and he has a release clause that will rise to 500 million euros.
The player was at the club offices around midday to put pen to paper on the new deal along with new president Joan Laporta. He is the son of the legendary Fran, who played for Deportivo.
Ronald Koeman has already shown some interest in the youngster, 19, although he has not called him up to train with the first team yet.
Nico who started the season in and out of the team, has become key for Barca B in the defensive pivot role. There’s currently no obvious reserve for Sergio Busquets and the club believe his successor may eventually come from within,
Nico has always plays with kids older than him, and his dream of making his first team debut is becoming closer to reality.
