Konrad de la Fuente, who hopes to become the first American to play for Barça's senior team, penned a new contract two days before he would become a free agent

The hero from the first match in Barça B's play-off push, Konrad de la Fuente, only signed his new contract at the club two days before his existing deal was set to expire. The American youngster, who scored two against Valladolid B, has been at La Masia since he was 10. Back in 2013, he joined up with Infantil B when his father moved to Barcelona to work at the Haiti Consulate.

On the 28th June he signed his extension at the club - just two days before his previous deal would run out - and that included an unexpectedly high buyout clause of €50m. That will increase to €100m should Konrad be promoted to the first team. "I dream about being the first North American footballer to play for Barça's senior team," he said after penning the new deal.

From Haiti to Barcelona

De la Fuente is the son of two Haiti natives but has already represented the United States at youth level. He's a very quick, skillful and lethal winger. Konrad made his debut for the B side at the end of 2018 and in the current season has played 852 minutes with Juvenil A, scoring four goals as the team went on to win the division. Various clubs from the Bundesliga have enquired about his availability.
