Barca Atletic could reach Segunda A without having to play a final
If Barca Atletic beat Madrid's B team then they could go up without facing Celta in the final
Barça Atlètic play for for promotion to Segunda A against none other than Real Madrid Castilla after securing qualification against Logroñés. If they win the mini-Clasico and reach the final, they could have an ace up their sleeve depending on what happens in the last game of La Liga 2022-23 season next weekend between Barça and Celta Vigo in Balaídos.
Xavi Hernández's Barça will go into the final official game of the season with almost all their objectives achieved; only Marc-André Ter Stegen has one thing left to do, which is to surpass Liaño's record of clean sheets, which he equalled against Real Mallorca.
Apart from that, and the fact that Robert Lewandowski can consolidate his Pichichi if he scores and that the team can increase their lead over Madrid in second if they win, Xavi Hernández's side will find little else to inspire them.
However, the Blaugrana players could have an incentive in terms of the club, thinking of the reserve team, Barça Atlètic. Rafa Márquez's side kick off next weekend (June 3) at the Estadi Johan Cruyff in the play-off for promotion to Segunda A against Real Madrid Castilla. The second leg will be played a week later at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stéfano, and the winner will play in the final of the B Table against Celta B and Eldense.
A curious thing could happen if Celta B beat Eldense in the play-offs.
Barça beat Celta in the 38th matchday and the team from Vigo is relegated to Segunda A, it would be enough for Rafa Márquez's Barça Atlètic -or Raúl González's RM Castilla- to win the 'mini clásico' to be assured of promotion, as Celta and their reserve team could not coincide in the same league.
This situation could occur if Celta B qualify; if Eldense are the winners of the semi-final, they would obviously have to play in the two-legged final of the play-offs, which is scheduled for the weekends of 17-18 and 24-25 June.
Of course, it should also be kept in mind that Barça will travel to Vigo absolutely relaxed, while Celta still have to secure their stay in the Primera División.
In Table A of the play-offs for promotion to Segunda A, the semi-finals are between Real Sociedad B v Alcorcón and Deportivo de la Coruña v Castellón.
