Despite just signing for Milan, the Croatian footballer isn't seen as a first team member of the squad and is being offered out on loan

With the transfer window approaching its closing date, Girona have only signed two new players: Patrick Roberts and Jairo Izquierdo. The latest name to be linked with a move to Montilivi is Alen Halilovic. The 22-year-old only signed for Milan this summer but following the arrival of Samu Castillejo at the San Siro it appears as if he's no longer needed for the first team. He'll be loaned out instead.

One of the teams interested in Halilovic is Girona. Eusebio Sacristan knows him well because the two worked together at Barça in 2014/15. In that season, Halilovic played 30 matches for the academy side and scored four goals. One of them actually came at Montilivi.

With the English and Italian markets both closed, LaLiga offers Milan the best option of finding a temporary home for their new signing. Whilst on the books of German side Hamburg, Halilovic spent one season on loan at Sporting Gijón (36 matches and 3 goals), one and a half seasons at Las Palmas (38 matches and two goals).

Without much stability in the last few years of his career and a constant stream of injuries, his arrival in Italy hasn't gone smoothly either. It won't be easy for the Croatian to get into the starting line up and less so now that Castillejo is at the club. Milan are confident in Halilovic's ability but they'd prefer he got regular minutes elsewhere this season. Aside from Girona, Espanyol are also interested in the player.
