Espanyol have taken the decision to sack Gallego
They will appoint Machin as his replacement after a bad run of league results
David Gallego’s reign in charge of Espanyol has been brief. He’s barely led the team for four months but the defeat by Mallorca is the final straw for the Espanyol directors.
The decision has been taken but not made official yet, with former Girona and Sevilla coach Pablo Machin set to take his place.
The club held a meeting on Monday when Gallego’s fate was decided. He has only won one La Liga match this season, which is the reason he is being ousted, even though the team has done well in the Europa League.
Espanyol will publish their statement about Gallego in the coming hours, along with announcing Machin’s arrival.
