The decision comes amid increasing attendances in the women's football

Espanyol have confirmed that the RCDE Stadium will host their women's team's game against Atletico Madrid on April 22, corresponding with the 28th round of fixtures in La Liga Iberdrola. The match will kick off at 11.00 and tickets will be free.

The decision comes amid increasing attendances in the women's football, both in Spain and around Europe.

Nearly 50,000 people packed San Mames to see Athletic Club play Atletico in the Copa de la Reina recently and earlier this month a world record crowd for a club match in women's football watched Atletico host Barcelona at the Wanda Metropolitano -- over 60,000 people.

Espanyol's ground has a capacity for 40.500 supporters, so would not be able to break any records but would continue the upward trend in attendances at women's football.

It remains to be seen if Barcelona will open up the doors to Camp Nou to their women's side. If they progress to the Champions League semifinal on Wednesday, they could decide to play the home leg in the 100,000-capacity stadium.
