Espanyol are set to complete the signing of former Real Madrid striker Raul de Tomas from Benfica for around 20 million euros.
La Liga's bottom side are finalising the agreement with the Portuguese club as they look to add firepower to their bid to stay in Spain's top flight.
They will make a big financial effort to get the deal over the line, paying an initial 20 million and another 2.5 million in possible add-ons.
De Tomas' desire to return to La Liga has played a big part in the talks and paved the way for Espanyol to make what could be a huge signing.
The arrival of De Tomas, who excelled with Rayo Vallecano in La Liga previously, will open the door for forward Ferreyra to leave the Pericos this month.
