Espanyol apologise after racist insult from club delegate
Club delegate José María Calzón called a Girona fan a "black bastard"
Espanyol beat Girona 2-1 but that was not the only news at Montilivi. Just before the start of the game, Espanyol club delegate Jose Maria Calzon was involved in ugly incident with some Girona fans who were waiting for the Pericos to arrive.
"To the second division," chanted some members of the Jovent Gironi fan club, laughing at the Espanyol players. Calzon responded: "You shut up, fucking black bastard," at one of the fans.
The club's director of communications Agustin Rodriguez had to apologise on Twitter. "In the name of the club we apologise for the incident which is obviously unjustificiable and was a product of the tension in the moment," he wrote.
