FC Barcelona have confirmed on Thursday afternoon that there were three candidates for the presidential election who passed the first cut. Joan Laporta, Victor Font and Toni Freixa. They will contest the election on Jan 24, provided it is not postponed.
The club validated the signatures they had collected at the 1899 Auditorium at Camp Nou. Each needed to beat 2,257 signatures.
Of Laporta’s 10,272, 9,625 were validated. Of Victor Font’s 4,713, 4,431 were validated. And of Freixa’s 2,822, 2,634 were validated.
Emili Rousaud dropped out of the race today before the signatures were validated.
The presidents can begin their campaigns from Friday, Jan 15, up until the election on Jan 24.
